SINGAPORE. June 6 (Interfax) - The missile defense being built by the United States is creating problems both for Russia and for China, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov said at the Shangri-La Dialogue, an international security conference in the Asia-Pacific Region.
Moscow "urged them to stop implementing the plans, offered them cooperation many times and has found opportunities for resolving the situation," he said
However, "we were unable to persuade them to continue dialogue on this issue, and my understanding is that now is not the best time for them for consultations," Antonov said.
"Russia never said it was against any missile defense plans, each country has the right to develop any weapon, of course, except the nuclear, chemical and biological ones," the deputy minister said.
"However, it is very dangerous when one state is providing its own security at the expense of others'," he added.
