MOSCOW. June 8 (Interfax-AVN) - The cessation of hostilities was complied with in a majority of Syrian provinces over the past 24 hours, the Russian center for reconciliation of opposing sides in Syria said.
"Three violations were observed in the Damascus province over the past day," the center said in a report posted on the Russian Defense Ministry's website.
"Formations of Jaysh al-Islam, identifying itself as opposition, opened mortar fire on Syrian Armed Forces positions in the towns of Jaubar, Meyda and Arbil," the report said.
"The Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Air Force did not strike opposition paramilitary units which had declared [adherence to the] cessation of hostilities and had informed either the Russian or U.S. reconciliation center about their location," the Defense Ministry said.
