BLAGOVESHCHENSK. June 9 (Interfax) - Troops from an army railway formation stationed in the Amur region in Russia's Eastern Military District (EMD) were put on alert and headed to a section of the Zeya River.
"The events are part of a tactical special exercise during which the railway troops are to overcome contaminated parts of the terrain, set up elements of pontoon crossing, repel an attack by a subversive reconnaissance group of a mock enemy," an EMD spokesperson said.
The troops will also practice a sequence of steps to restore a sunken bridge.
The exercise involves the entire personnel of the formation and over 50 pieces of automobile and special equipment.
