U.S. realizes seriousness of IS threat, need to coordinate antiterrorist efforts with Russia - Lavrov

MOSCOW. June 15 (Interfax) - Russia and the United States have managed to move ahead in arranging practical cooperation in settling the crisis in Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"It has taken some time for our partners to realize the seriousness of the threat posed by ISIL, Jabhat al-Nusra [banned in Russia] and the like and to realize the need to coordinate efforts with us. Nevertheless, we've managed to move ahead in arranging practical work," Lavrov said during Government Hour at the State Duma on Wednesday.
