MOSCOW. June 23 (Interfax) - Representatives of the Moscow-Cairo opposition group were not offered to join a new Syrian government, this issue should be decided involving the United Nations, head of the group Qadri Jamil said.
"What is happening now in Damascus, this is not within the framework of the Geneva talks, therefore, nothing was offered to us. And even if they had offered [something], we would have insisted on discussing this issue in Geneva," he told Interfax.
"If we are speaking about the government, which unites simultaneously the regime and the opposition, this issue should be discussed in the presence of the UN," Jamil also said.
On Wednesday, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad instructed Energy Minister Imad Khamis to form a new government in the country. "The formation of a new government is a natural step after the parliamentary elections, it complies with the Syrian constitution," Syrian Ambassador in Moscow Riyad Haddad told Interfax.
