Supply of Russian weapons to Iraq, Kurdish militia will continue - Russian ambassador (Part 3)

MOSCOW. June 29 (Interfax) - Russia will continue supplying weapons to the Iraqi army and the Kurdish militia; these weapons will be actively used to liberate Mosul from terrorists, Russian Ambassador to Iraq Ilya Morgunov said.

"The supply continues and it will continue," he said in an interview with Interfax, responding to a question as to whether Russia intends to intensify the supply of weapons to the Iraqi army in the context of the preparations for the storming of Mosul.

"Our weapons will be used: firearms, artillery and tanks," Morgunov said.

The diplomat said Russian weapons "will be heavily used in the storming of this city."

"Additional supply of weapons to Iraq occurs about once in two months," he said. "One plane arrives in Baghdad for the needs of the federal army and the other plane heads to Erbil through Baghdad for supply to Kurdish militia," Morgunov said.

The ambassador said the supply of Russian weapons to Iraqi Kurds will also continue, saying it is approved by the federal authorities in Baghdad.
