Electronic warfare units create 7,850 sq km suppression zone at exercise in Baikal territory

BLAGOVESHCHENSK. Aug 3 (Interfax) - Electronic warfare units of a motorized infantry force in the Eastern Military District stationed in the Baikal territory have suppressed radio and electronic signals on a territory of 7,850 square kilometers, the press service of the Eastern Military District reported.

The units created a zone of complete radio and electronic silence with a radius of 50 kilometers. Combat units of the Zhitel electronic warfare complexes created an electromagnetic dome that protected the command post and combat positions from aircraft and radio means of an imaginary enemy, the statement reads.

"Electronic warfare complexes neutralized a group of unmanned aerial vehicles and created noises for targeting cruise missiles and high-precision weapons of an imaginary enemy," the statement reads.

Tactical units also drilled a complete suppression of satellite and cellular communication in the GPS and GMS formats and destroyed the control system of an imaginary enemy, it reads.

The exercise involved more than 50 servicemen and about 20 units of special equipment.
