KYIV. Aug 4 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak on Thursday has inspected preparations for the military equipment that will be used in a military parade on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of national independence.
The minister expressed his satisfaction with the process going as scheduled, the ministry said on its website.
Over 200 pieces of military equipment will march alongside foot soldiers at this year's parade on the main street in Kyiv, it said.
One of these days the defense minister will check on preparations by the personnel who will participate in the parade.
On July 22 Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed a decree where by a military parade will be held in central Kyiv on August 24 on the occasion of the Independence Day. The defense minister has been entrusted with overseeing preparations for, and conduct of the event.
The head of state reassured that none of the military equipment in the military-operation zone in southeastern Ukraine will be displayed during the parade.
