MOSCOW. Aug 5 (Interfax) - Almost 350 populated areas have already joined the reconciliation process in Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"Reconciliation agreements were concluded with representatives of eight populated localities in Al-Suwayda Province (six) and Latakia Province (two) in the past 24 hours. The number of populated localities engaged in the reconciliation process increased to 349," the Russian center for reconciliation of the opposing sides in Syria said in a report.
Negotiations on joining the cessation of hostilities continued with the field commanders of armed opposition units in Homs, Hama and Damascus Provinces, it said.
"The number of armed units that have declared their commitment to accepting and abiding by the cessation of hostilities terms remains unchanged, still standing at 69," the Defense Ministry said.
