MOSCOW. Aug 9 (Interfax) - Russian and U.S. military experts are meeting in Geneva, in the presence of UN officials, to discuss opportunities to shore up the truce in Aleppo, including the possibility of introducing a regime of quiet and 48-hour humanitarian pauses, Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva Alexei Borodavkin said.
"As far as the truce in Aleppo is concerned, this matter is now being discussed by our and American military with the participation of UN representatives," Borodavkin told Interfax.
"Consultations are being held almost non-stop because there are lots of issues. Both these and other issues linked with the strengthening of the cessation of hostilities regime in Syria and the joint fight against terrorism are being discussed," the Russian diplomat said after being asked whether Russia was ready to consider a UN proposal to introduce a regime of quiet in Aleppo or 48-hour weekly humanitarian pauses.
