SAMARA. Aug 18 (Interfax) - Russian security and police officers on Thursday held a citizen of a Central Asian republic in Samara on suspicion of plotting a terror attack, a regional law enforcement source told Interfax.
"On August 18, as result of a special operation conducted as part of a criminal inquiry into a sabotage and terror plot, its organizer, born 1982, was identified and apprehended in the Leninski district of Samara," the source said.
During searches at his home officers found and seized an AK-74 rifle with 30 cartridges, five TNT bombs weighing a total of 1.8 kilograms, a description, with drawings, of how to make an improvised explosive device, an oath of allegiance to Islamic State (a terror group banned in Russia), guidelines for illegal armed group members, and religious literature listed as extremist by the federal authorities.
The man is now making a confession, the source said.
A decision is due on opening a criminal case.
