Over 40 citizens of Ukraine on wanted persons lists detained in Russia in 2016 - Patrushev

TVER. Sept 5 (Interfax-AVN) - Over 40 Ukrainians who are on wanted persons lists in Russia were detained in the Central Federal District in the first half of 2016, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said at a meeting.

"Over 40 citizens of Ukraine who are on wanted persons lists in the Russian Federation have been detained, 49 situations of smuggling, including weapons and munitions, and 14 crimes involving the transportation of narcotics have been registered this year as a result of the additional measures to ensure public safety on transport," Patrushev said.

Over 200,000 vehicles have been inspected, he said.

Assistance was provided to Ukrainians who left their homeland this year and preventive work with the leaders of Ukrainian diasporas continues, Patrushev said.
