Putin ready to take relations with UK "as far as London wants to"

HANGZHOU. Sept 5 (Interfax) - Russia is ready to develop its relations with the United Kingdom as deeply as London wants to, but the main task facing the two countries' governments at present is not to disturb the people and companies whose job involves developing bilateral relationship, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"We are ready to restore relations with Great Britain and go with them as far as they want to," Putin told reporters after the G20 summit.

Moscow "cannot decide for them [London] to what extent we should restore the relations," he said.

Around 600 British companies are operating on the Russian market and not planning to leave, he recalled.

"At this stage, the task of the political leadership of both countries is not to disturb the people who are doing this necessary work," the Russian president said.
