HANGZHOU. Sept 5 (Interfax) - The Russian president's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, said that the remarks Vladimir Putin made during a press conference were about a court ruling on the South China Sea problem and not which side is right in this dispute.
"With regard to the South Cihna Sea, the islands, the question was, what do you make of the court ruling, and what he did was to give his assessment of the court ruling. He did not say who is right, who is wrong. He supported China's position with regard to the court ruling," Peskov said.
"In other words, if this is an arbitration, both parties must recognize this arbitration and both parties should go there. Here, no one asked China, which is why, from this point of view, from Putin's point of view, China is right," Peskov said.
