MOSCOW. Sept 19 (Interfax) - Russia and Syria have honored all their obligations to demilitarize Castello Road in the Aleppo area, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"We notified the head of the U.S. delegation that Russia and Syria have fulfilled the documented conditions for demilitarization of Castello road. However, for some reason this irritated our partners. We never received information as to when the opposition is going to deploy their checkpoint. The data requested yesterday, for communication with field commanders on agreeing to remove the parties from the road, have not yet been received either," Col. Alexander Zorin, who represents Russia at the center for Syria truce monitoring in Geneva, said at a briefing on Monday.
UN representatives still see this road as the main thoroughfare for humanitarian convoys heading to eastern Aleppo, he said.
