MOSCOW. Oct 18 (Interfax-AVN) - Illegal armed units have shelled populated localities in five provinces of Syria in the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday.
"Forty-one instances of shelling have been recorded in the past 24 hours," the Russian center for reconciliation of the opposing sides in Syria said in a report, published on the Russian Defense Ministry's website.
Armed groups opened fire on people and different facilities in the provinces of Aleppo (19), Damascus (15), Hama (four), Latakia (two) and Al-Quneitra (one).
Armed units engaged in the cessation of hostilities fired mortars and small arms on the populated localities of Arbil and Harasta, as well as positions of Syrian government forces near the populated locality of Mazar Abu, a road junction in the vicinity of Arbil and the Height 612 in Damascus Provinces. The populated locality of Azizieh and the Hai al-Antari neighborhood in Aleppo Province, as well as the populated locality of Rashah and the Height 565 in Latakia Province also came under fire.
Improvised multiple-launch rocket systems, mortars and small arms were used against the populated localities of Bakirtaya, Shurfa and Azizieh in Aleppo Province, as well as the neighborhoods of '1070', Suleiman Halabi, Hai al-Antari, Sheikh Maqsood, Dahia al-Assad, al-Maydam, a cement plant, the Castello shopping center and government forces' positions in the neighborhoods of Ramouseh, Leramon and '1070' in the city of Aleppo.
Strikes were also conducted on the populated localities of Haush Nasri, Dahiat al-Assad and Haush Harabu in Damascus Province, as well as a medical service school in the populated locality of Harasta, a sports ground and a textile factory in Jaubar, the Ibn al-Walid hospital and Syrian government forces' positions in Jaubar.
Terrorists shelled the populated localities of Maharda, Hamamiyat and Kaukab, as well as a train station in the populated locality of Narb Nafsa in Hama Province.
The populated locality of Jaba in Al-Quneitra Province also came under fire.
The Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Air Force did not conduct strikes on armed opposition units that joined the cessation of hostilities and informed the Russian and American centers for reconciliation of their positions, it said.
