Russian army sees crime rate fall by 75% in past decade - military prosecutor general

MOSCOW. Oct 31 (Interfax) - The rate of army crimes, including hazing, has dropped by 75% in the past ten years, Military Prosecutor General Sergei Fridinsky said.

"Over the past ten years the number of wrongdoings in the military organization of the state has more than halved. The number of military crimes, including hazing practices and draft dodgings, has dropped by 75%. As a result of the steady and ubiquitous anti-crime campaign, the number of grave and very grave crimes and the resulting soldier deaths and injuries has significantly dropped," Fridinsky said at a coordination meeting on Monday.

The results of the first ten months in 2016 confirm that an overwhelming majority of military outfits operate in a healthy moral and psychological atmosphere, the prosecutor said.
