BAKU. Nov 14 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin attaches a lot of significance and is making efforts toward settling the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijani deputy presidential chief of staff Novruz Mammadov said.
"I was among those who took part in the meeting [between the presidents of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia] in St. Petersburg. I noticed how serious attention Vladimir Putin is paying and efforts he is making toward settling the conflict," Mammadov said in an interview with the Azerbaijan Press Agency (APA).
Azerbaijan did not assume any obligations at the meeting between President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan in Vienna, he said.
"We adhere to our positions. The December meeting between the [foreign] ministers will see a broad exchange of opinions on the conflict," Mammadov said.
One of the reasons why the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has still not been settled is that "the world has other things to care about."
"At the present time, the co-chair countries - Russia, the U.S. and France - are preoccupied with their own problems," he said.
