Kerry declares efforts towards Syria settlement after new meeting with Lavrov

HAMBURG. Dec 8 (Interfax) - Moscow and Washington are working on a result of the Syria settlement process, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said after meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Hamburg.

One should still wait for reaction, but the work is ongoing, the diplomat said, answering a question as to whether his latest meeting with Lavrov was successful.

The negotiations lasted for 10-15 minutes.

As reported earlier, the foreign policy chiefs spoke tete-a-tete.

The meeting was held in furtherance of the negotiations of last Wednesday. A source in the Russian delegation told Interfax that Lavrov and Kerry discussed Syria issues in the context of the proposal Kerry made in regard to Aleppo at the meeting in Rome. The December 2 proposal of the United States concerned a procedure of militants' withdrawal from eastern Aleppo.
