NEW YORK (UN). Dec 20 (Interfax) - The UN Security Council (UNSC) has called the Russian ambassador's murder in Ankara a terrorist act and has demanded that the perpetrators, masterminds and sponsors of this crime be brought to justice.
UN Security Council members "strongly condemned" the terrorist attack in Ankara, as a result of which the Russian ambassador was killed, the UNSC said in a statement.
UNSC members reiterated "the need to bring the perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of terrorist attacks to justice," it said.
They also "reaffirmed that terrorism in all forms is constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security, and that any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable," the statement said.
The members of the Council also "stressed the fundamental principle of the inviolability of diplomatic agents and consular officers and the obligations, including under the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, to take all appropriate steps to prevent any attack on diplomatic agents and consular officers," it said.
