MOSCOW. Dec 21 (Interfax) - The murder of Andrei Karlov, Russian ambassador in Ankara, was a stab in the back for the Turkish authorities too, as they appear least interested in such a course of events, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
"What has happened is also aimed against the Turkish state. Because our Turkish partners are least likely to be interested in such a development," Peskov said in an interview with the Mir television.
Peskov went on to explain that Russia and Turkey are currently working together on a number of major projects, including the construction of the TurkStream gas pipeline and the Akkuyu nuclear power plant.
"So this is a stab in the back of the Turkish state too," Peskov said.
