Tiraspol set to continue joint military exercises with Russia

TIRASPOL. Dec 22 (Interfax) - Russia and Transdniestria may continue the practice of conducting joint military exercises, the new president of the Moldovan Republic of Transdniestria, Vadim Krasnoselsky, said.

"I don't see any problem. This is normal military team training of both the Russian component and the Transdniestrian armed forces," he told reporters when asked whether the practice of holding joint Transdniestrian-Russian military exercises started in 2016 would continue.

Krasnoselsky was elected as Transdniestrian president on December 11 and assumed office on December 16. He paid his first foreign trip as president to Moscow.

On Wednesday the Transdniestrian president's press office told Interfax that in Russia Krasnoselsky has already met with the Russian president's special representative for Transdniestria, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, and Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin.
