MOSCOW. Dec 23 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov met with Finnish Ambassador to Russia Mikko Hautala on Friday at Hautala's request, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"Issues concerning the resumption of Russian-Finnish military contacts were at the center of the meeting's agenda," the ministry said in a report, seen by Interfax-AVN on Friday.
"The sides discussed current security problems in the Baltic region, as well as possible steps to reduce tensions and promote bilateral confidence building and transparency measures in the military sphere," it said.
Antonov also said that Finland had been invited to attend the Sixth Moscow Conference on International Security, which would address issues concerning the fight against terrorism and the situation in crisis-stricken regions.
He also said that Finland had been invited to the 2017 International Army Games and the Army-2017 international military-technical forum.
"The meeting took place in a constructive atmosphere," it said.
