MOSCOW. Dec 28 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia may use an airbase in Iran for striking on terrorists in case of a good will of Tehran, State Duma Defense Committee First Deputy Chairman, Hero of Russia Andrei Krasov told Interfax on Wednesday.
"If they permit to use military infrastructures in our common interests, we would welcome their move," Krasov said, speaking of the possible use of an Iranian airbase for strikes on terrorists.
"We have common objectives and we are accomplishing common tasks in the fight against terrorist organizations. Once we are accomplishing common tasks, I think that Iran should make this goodwill gesture," Krasov said.
That would be very advantageous for Russia, he said.
"The range of flight from the Iranian territory is much shorter than it is from Russia. That will both save jet fuel and increase the intensity of flights," he said.
The media said earlier referencing Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan that Iran was ready to consider Russia's possible request for using the Hamadan airbase.
