Divers raise more passengers, fragments of aircraft that crashed near Sochi

SOCHI. Dec 28 (Interfax) - The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry's underwater divers have carried out more than 30 descents over the past 24 hours to look for and raise fragments of the Defense Ministry's Tupolev Tu-154 aircraft that crashed into the Black Sea near Sochi on Sunday.

"A lot of the plane's fragments and fuselage sections have been found and raised to the surface. Rescuers have also recovered documents and personal belongings of plane passengers who have tragically died," it said.

Involved in the search operation in the Black Sea are currently more than 3,600 people and 45 sea vessels and cutters belonging to the Emergency Situations Ministry's Southern search and rescue unit and the state inspectorate for small vessels. The crews of all these vessels include underwater divers, and they also carry equipment for underwater search and recovery operations.
