MOSCOW. Dec 28 (Interfax) - Moscow calls on Kyiv to prevent the implementation of the proposals made by so-called Donbas war veterans on the blockade of the region, Russian Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova said.
"We have noticed the reports published in the Ukrainian media on the intentions of the 'veterans' of so-called volunteer battalions who were previously involved in the punitive operation in Donbas to organize some 'trade-economic blockade' of some areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The essence of the campaign is to organize something like a ghetto in these regions, depriving its population of water and electrical power in winter," Zakharova said in a statement posted on the Russian Foreign Ministry website on Wednesday.
"We are calling on Kyiv to prevent this crazy scheme, which may aggravate the situation, which is difficult as it is. It's time to stop seeing residents of Donbas as enemies," she said.
