MOSCOW. Dec 29 (Interfax-AVN) - The Yevpatoriya Aircraft Maintenance Plant is repairing its first batch of Russian Aerospace Forces Sukhoi Su-25 attack aircraft, a defense sector representative told Interfax-AVN on Wednesday.
"Repairs of the first batch of Sukhoi Su-25 aircraft are due to end in the second half of 2017," he said.
The Yevpatoriya Aircraft Maintenance Plant "will have to learn how to repair the attack plane, which will take some time," he said.
"For now, the first batch of attack aircraft is being repaired, while the maintenance techniques are being learned. In the future, the plant will repair numerous Su-25s," he said.
In addition to learning Su-25 maintenance techniques, the plant resumed repairs of Beriyev Be-12 amphibious planes of the Black Sea Fleet in 2015, he said.
The Yevpatoriya Aircraft Maintenance Plant (former 316th aircraft maintenance plant) marked its 90th anniversary in 2016. The Russian Industry and Trade Ministry has licensed the plant to provide maintenance and to repair state-owned Beriyev Be-12, Sukhoi Su-25 and Antonov An-12 aircraft, An-24 and An-26 aircraft and their component parts and to repair AV-68 and AV-72 plane propellers.
