MOSCOW. Dec 29 (Interfax) - A phrase said by the captain of the Russian Defense Ministry's Tupolev Tu-154, which crashed near Sochi, indicates the beginning of a contingency aboard, head of the Russian Armed Forces flight safety service Sergei Bainetov said.
"There was nothing out of the ordinary yet the captain's phrase, just one, an analysis of that phrase indicates the beginning of a contingency, the beginning of its development. So far, it tells us nothing else," Bainetov told a press conference in Moscow on Thursday.
He added that the radio exchange was brief.
"The radio exchange was extremely brief; you can imagine that the contingency was developing for ten seconds. What can one say within ten seconds?" Bainetov said.
