MOSCOW. Jan 9 (Interfax-AVN) - The 2016 plan of the delivery of new and modernized weapons, military and specialized hardware to the Southern Military District has been fully met, the district press service told Interfax-AVN on Monday.
"The Ground Forces, coastal units of the Black Sea Fleet and the Caspian Flotilla, and special operations units of the Southern Military District received over 1,400 pieces of modern armored, motor and engineering vehicles, rocket and artillery weapons, communication and electronic warfare equipment, and other types of specialized hardware from plants in 2016," it said.
The delivery of modern T-72B3 tanks, BMP-3 infantry combat vehicles and BTR-82A armored personnel carriers continues to armor and motorized infantry units of combined-arms brigades and Russian military bases abroad in the course of the rearmament program, it said.
