MOSCOW. Jan 9 (Interfax-AVN) - A new missile developed by Dolgoprudny Research and Production Enterprise of Almaz-Antey Concern for the Buk-M3 anti-aircraft missile system has no analogues in the world, Tikhomirov Scientific Research Institute of Instrument Design General Director Yury Bely told Interfax-AVN in an interview.
"A brand new missile, the 9M317M, has been designed for the Buk-M3 anti-aircraft and missile system and is being manufactured; in contrast to the 9M317 missile of the Buk-M2 complex, its performance characteristics have been doubled, which naturally increases the ability to hit tactical ballistic and cruise missiles," Bely said.
The new complex can fire 9M317 missiles in case of using Buk-M2 transporter-erector-launchers, he said.
