DONETSK. Jan 11 (Interfax) - The defense ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk people's republic (DPR) claims to have repelled an attack by Ukrainian government forces near the village of Spartak.
"After artillery preparation with the use of 122mm rounds, the Ukrainian armed forces command attempted at 6:45 p.m. to seize our positions in the populated area of Spartak with three groups numbering 10 people each, with the support of mortars and the fire of two tanks," a DPR defense ministry spokesperson told journalists.
DPR forces had to fire small arms in response, he said.
"The enemy is suffering losses. Preliminary reports indicate that three Ukrainian servicemen have sustained injuries," he said.
Kyiv has not reported losses in Donbas over the past 24 hours.
