Fighter pilots drill air battle tactics against simulated adversary's aircraft in Primorye

VLADIVOSTOK. Jan 11 (Interfax-AVN) - The Sukhoi Su-35S fighter jets of the Primorye air regiment carried out aerial battles in the skies over Peter the Great Bay for the first time this year.

"The pilots of the fighter jet regiment of the Air Force and Air Defense army in the Eastern Military District performed flights, having practiced aerial battle tactics against the simulated adversary's aircraft for the first time this year," head of the information support department of the press service of the Eastern Military District for the Pacific Fleet Capt. 2nd Rank Vladimir Matveyev said on Wednesday.

The crews have fulfilled the set of various elements of air combat training focusing on piloting techniques with the use of offensive and defensive maneuvers at different altitudes and at different times of the day.

While performing the tasks of flight duty shifts, the crews of the Su-30M2 and Su-35S fighter jets in turn performed drills to search for, detect and destroy the simulated adversary's aircraft during tactical fighting, Matveyev said.

The tactical flights were carried out over the Peter the Great Bay and with terrain reference over Amur Bay.

According to the objective control data, the crews successfully performed the tasks of intercepting the simulated violating aircraft.

The Primorye fighter regiment was equipped with the Su-35S generation 4++ multirole super-maneuvering fighter jets in March 2016.
