MOSCOW. Jan 13 (Interfax) - Syria and Turkey share certain interests although a Turkish army has been deployed to Syria, former Syrian army general Mustafa al-Sheikh, head of a Syrian opposition delegation visiting Moscow, said.
"As to the presence of a Turkish army in the territory of Syria, Turkey and we share certain interests: some interests of our people and the people of Turkey coincide," he said, commenting on the deployment of Turkish troops in Syria.
The general condemned Israeli air raids on the suburbs of Damascus. "As to the bombardments, I am opposed to aggression against Syria, no matter who conducts it. I am against the Israeli bombardment of the Damascus suburbs," he said.
Earlier on Friday Syria accused the Israeli Air Force of bombing the Mezzeh airbase in Western Damascus.
