NEW YORK (UN). Jan 17 (Interfax) - Moscow has paid attention to remarks made by representatives of the administration of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump about the prospects of the 'nuclear deal' with Iran, but Russia is certain that no prerequisites exist for a breakdown of these agreements.
"Certainly, some statements that specifically address the prospects of JCPOA [Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action] have drawn our attention, but in any case I do not see any signs in them that we are approaching some line or that a totally new situation is emerging," Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told reporters in the UN.
"We believe that there are no prerequisites for any glitches and breakdowns, and the entire P5+1 group and Iranian representatives will continue working in this direction," the high-ranking diplomat said.
"We will adhere to our known line both in the dialogue with the new U.S. administration and in contact with the other participants in the P5+1 group," he said.
This policy sees the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program "as from all standpoints important, positive, constructive and positively influencing the regional situation, bolstering international security and, what is most important, helping to resolve the tasks facing us, namely the strengthening of the regime of the nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction," Ryabkov said.
"This assessment has not changed. And we will continue to abide by it," he said.
