DONETSK. Jan 17 (Interfax) - One militiaman was killed in the Ukrainian army's strikes in the past day, Eduard Basurin of the Defense Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) said.
"Ten houses in the populated localities of Yelenivka, Horlivka and the Petrovsky district of Donetsk were damaged as a result of strikes conducted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. A gas main in the populated locality of Yasne was also damaged. One serviceman of the DPR army was killed by mortar fire of Ukraine's artillery," he said at a press briefing.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces committed 427 ceasefire breaches and shelled 12 populated localities of the self-proclaimed republic in the past 24-hour period, Basurin said.
"The adversary fired 143 120mm and 82mm mines, as well as 278 items of ammunition with grenade launchers of different types against the republic's territory. Infantry fighting vehicle weapons and small arms were also used," he said.
