SIMFEROPOL. Jan 18 (Interfax) - The offers made by Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada deputy Nadiya Savchenko on the possibility of resolving the situation in Donbas at the negotiating table while temporarily setting aside Ukraine's claims to Crimea cannot be implemented because they do not take into consideration the interests of Donbas residents, Republic of Crimea State Council Chairman Vladimir Konstantinov said.
"They [Savchenko's offers] have nothing to do with reality. One needs to go to Donbas and ask the people whether they want that [to rejoin Ukraine]. Go to Donbas and ask the people, and you will understand by their responses that she [Savchenko] is offering absolutely unrealistic things," Konstantinov told reporters in Simferopol, replying to a question concerning Savchenko's offers.
The attitude of the self-proclaimed Donbas republics' residents towards Ukraine has drastically changed in the past three years, he said.
"Something like that would probably have been possible in 2014. But the people think differently now. One needs to proceed from the opinion of the people," Konstantinov said.
Savchenko said earlier that the situation in Donbas can be resolved only in a non-military way at the negotiating table while temporarily setting aside Ukraine's claims to Crimea.
