MOSCOW. Jan 23 (Interfax) - No illusions should be cherished about the future of the Russian-U.S. relationship, as the two countries will always have disagreements and clashes between their interests, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
"Perhaps it's a great mistake to cherish some illusions regarding the future of our relations in the sense that the future of our bilateral relationship will be free from differences and disagreements. This is impossible," Peskov said in a televised interview on Saturday.
"Indeed, we are the two biggest countries in the world, and we can't exist without some frictions and clashes between our interests," he said.
"A success in the development of our bilateral relations will depend on how we can approach the settlement of these differences through dialogue," he said.
Asked by the TV host whether Trump is "our man," Peskov replied, "This is not our man, this is an American man, and it's perhaps the biggest mistake of Western analysts and some of our political analysts to presume that this is our man."
