Kazakhstan does not see United States' representation at Syria talks in Astana by ambassador as negative factor - Kazakh deputy foreign minister (Part 2)

ASTANA. Jan 23 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan does not see the fact that U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan George Krol represents the United States at the Syria talks in Astana as a negative factor, Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Roman Vasilenko said.

"I do not think we should view this fact as something negative," he told a press conference in Astana on Monday.

"We should remember that, in contrast to Russia, Turkey and Iran, the United States does not initiate these negotiations, and the status of the U.S. delegation derives from this factor. I do not think anyone can dispute qualification of the diplomat of such level as Ambassador Krol. So, I believe, this is totally normal," Vasilenko said.
