ASTANA. Jan 23 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has met with Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Syria Staffan de Mistura to discuss the forthcoming Syria settlement talks, the presidential press service said on Monday.
Nazarbayev underlined Astana's readiness for holding the negotiations and said that every condition had been created for the negotiating parties.
"I have accepted the proposal of the presidents of Russia, Turkey and Iran to hold the negotiations in Astana. We want this meeting to be successful. Given that Kazakhstan has equal relations of trust with every participant in this meeting, I believe that conditions for normal negotiations will be created," Nazarbayev said.
