Russian Pacific Fleet's missile troops put on mock alert in Kamchatka region

VLADIVOSTOK. Feb 3 (Interfax-AVN) - A missile and artillery unit of the Russian navy's Pacific Fleet in the Kamchatka region has been put on mock alert.

On hearing the mock alarm the missile divisions of the coastal formation of the Troops and Forces in northeastern Russia performed a march, in fighting vehicles, to designated areas and occupied their positions, the fleet's spokesperson said.

"During the inspection, over 500 missile troops servicemen will be involved in all types of combat training, from organizing march security to providing air defense," the spokesperson said.

Special attention will be given to practicing deploying the Redut (Redoubt) and Rubezh (Frontier) coastal anti-ship missile systems.

Pacific Fleet Commander Admiral Sergei Avakyants will inspect troops based in Kamchatka. The inspection includes the fleet's surface ships, submarines and the coastal troops.
