DONETSK. Feb 3 (Interfax) - As many as 154 persons have been evacuated from Donetsk and its suburbs to shelters in the three days of escalating tensions in Donbas, the office of self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Human Rights Ombudsman Darya Morozova said.
"In the period from 31.01.2017 till 02.02.2017, 103 persons, including 32 minors, were evacuated to shelters in the republic. Sixty-three of them, including 290 children, were accommodated at shelters of the ombudsman's office," an office spokesperson said.
Many residents have applied to the office to be assigned to shelters against the backdrop of the escalating hostilities, she said. "The office provided temporary accommodation to 51 DPR residents, among them 16 children, in the period from 31.01.2017 till 02.02.2017," she said.
"So, the recent escalation of the conflict has forced 154 civilians, 48 of them underage, to flee their homes and to settle down at DPR shelters. A total of 114 persons, including 36 children, were taken in by shelters of the ombudsman's office," she said.
