State Defense Order 99% fulfilled in 2016, this never happened before - Medvedev

MOSCOW. Feb 7 (Interfax) - Russia's State Defense Order was almost 99% fulfilled in 2016, which is a record, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Tuesday.

"The State Defense Order was fulfilled at a record level, almost 99%. This never happened before," Medvedev said at an off-site meeting of the United Russia faction in the State Duma.

He said that military exports as part of the military-technical cooperation provided Russia with about $15 bln.

"It allows us to maintain our positions on the global arms market," Medvedev said.

He added that Russia is currently ranked second on the arms export market and "it is very important for us to hold this position."
