MOSCOW. Feb 15 (Interfax) - The Russian reconciliation center in Syria has carried out eight humanitarian operations in the country over the past 24 hours.
"Over the past 24 hours, 3,450 residents have received humanitarian aid. The total weight of the humanitarian cargo delivered to the population stands at 5.9 tonnes," the Center said in a statement obtained by Interfax on Wednesday.
Six humanitarian operations were carried out in the city of Aleppo, one in the town of Huteita al-Jarash in the Damascus province and one in Beshrati in the Latakia province, the statement said. .
"Residents in the city of Aleppo (in the neighborhoods of Al-Haidariya, Azizia and Sheikh Maqsood, at schools in the neighborhoods of Al-Sukari and Az-Zahra, and near the Tishrin kindergarten) received 3.7 tonnes of bread and 3,000 portions of hot meals. At a temporary accommodation camp for civilians in the populated locality of Huteita al-Jarash, displaced persons received 350 food kits," the reconciliation center said.
"A consignment of kids' backpacks, with presents and school supplies in the amount of 100 units, was delivered to a school in Beshrati in the Latakia province," the Center said.
"The UN and partners continued providing food, medical, psychological and legal assistance to the Syrian Arab Republic," the statement said. "In addition, efforts continue to rebuild infrastructure and provide temporary housing to those in need," the Center said.
