If Russia, Turkey, Iran, Damascus can stabilize ceasefire, it could prompt big changes in conflict - de Mistura

MOSCOW. Feb 16 (Interfax-AVN) - If Moscow, Ankara, Tehran and Damascus can stabilize the ceasefire, this could bring about major opportunities and prompt major changes for settling the conflict in Syria, UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura said at a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu in Moscow on Thursday.

It is crucial at the moment to work out a reliable ceasefire mechanism, and the ongoing negotiations in Astana are particularly focused on this, de Mistura said.
