BAKU. Feb 16 (Interfax) - Chief of General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov has thanked the Azerbaijani leadership for arranging his meeting with Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Joseph Dunford in Baku, a spokesman for the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry told Interfax.
"Gerasimov met with Azerbaijani Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov in Baku on Thursday. The Russian chief of staff thanked the Azerbaijani leadership for arranging his meeting with Joseph Dunford in Baku," he said.
Gerasimov and Dunford are due to meet in Baku on Thursday.
In commenting on the meeting agenda, the Russian Defense Ministry had told Interfax on Wednesday: "The coordinated agenda covers the current condition and prospects of Russia-U.S. military interaction and measures to prevent incidents in the context of the parties' military activities."
