First Astana talks led to tangible progress in Syria crisis settlement - Kazakh Foreign Ministry

ASTANA. Feb 16 (Interfax) - The first round of intra-Syrian talks in Astana gave a strong impetus to the Syria peace process, Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Akylbek Kamaldinov said.

"The first negotiations held last month gave a strong impetus to the Syria crisis settlement ahead of the Geneva process. This resulted in creating a trilateral ceasefire mechanism," Kamaldinov said at the plenary meeting of the ongoing talks on Syria in Astana on Thursday.
