ASTANA. Feb 16 (Interfax) - The Astana negotiations on Syria have resulted in the establishment of a trilateral task force involving Iran, Russia, and Turkey to monitor the ceasefire in Syria, a high-ranking Russian Foreign Ministry official said.
"The adoption of a statute of a joint task force involving Russia, Iran and Turkey, which will be working on a regular basis to maintain and bolster the ceasefire, has become a tangible result of the Astana process," Russian Foreign Ministry Middle East and North Africa Department Director Sergei Vershinin, a deputy head of the Russian delegation to the talks in Astana, said via a video link between Moscow, Astana and Damascus on Thursday.
