MOSCOW. Feb 16 (Interfax) - The continuing ceasefire in Syria allows for sending more Russian aircraft and Syrian troops to the areas where active fighting is under way against terrorists of ISIL (a terrorist organization banned in Russia), a Russian Armed Forces General Staff official said.
"As for Russian Aerospace Forces operations, their main efforts are currently aimed at destroying positions of the international terrorist organization ISIL in eastern parts of Syria or in the northern part of the Aleppo governorate," deputy head of the Main Operative Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff Stanislav Gadzhimagomedov said.
"The fact the parties are observing the ceasefire allows for sending there additional forces, both Russian air force and [Syrian] government troops," Gadzhimagomedov said via a video link from Astana.
