ASTANA. Feb 16 (Interfax) - The head of the Russian delegation at talks in Astana, the Russian president's special representative Alexander Lavrentyev said it is possible to placate emotions and ensures differences are resolved between Damascus and the Syrian opposition.
"This meeting was attended, once again, by the Syrian government delegation and the armed opposition delegation, despite the remaining mutual mistrust and mutual accusations. Nevertheless, as practice and the experience of talking to Syrians show, they still have a lot in common, I think there is the ground for big emotions to settle down and for having fewer and fewer differences every time," he told a press conference in Astana.
That requires "very intensive and thorough work," he said.
