ASTANA. Feb 16 (Interfax) - Head of the Iranian delegation at the talks on intra-Syrian settlement Jaberi Ansari said the third round of talks in Astana will likely be held.
"It is likely that a third round of talks will be held in Astana. When? It is unclear when exactly, but within a month," he told journalists on Thursday.
The first high-level meeting on Syria was held in Astana on January 23-24. There, representatives of official Damascus and armed opposition met for the first time at the talks involving delegations from Russia, Iran, Turkey and the United Nations. The delegations did not have direct contact, but at the talks the three guarantor countries managed to elaborate a trilateral mechanism for control over the ceasefire regime in Syria and made major headway in the separation of moderate and armed opposition in Syria.
The next technical meeting in Astana on February 6-7 at the level of militaries formalized the agreements reached previously.
